Description
Tetrapeptide-30 is a specialized brightening tetrapeptide that targets the pigmentation pathway at multiple intervention points. Its primary mechanism is competitive tyrosinase inhibition, blocking the rate-limiting enzymatic step in melanin biosynthesis with high specificity.
Beyond direct enzyme inhibition, Tetrapeptide-30 reduces MITF expression, the master regulator of melanogenesis. This dual mechanism provides both immediate and sustained brightening effects, making it effective for existing hyperpigmentation and prevention of new spots.
Tetrapeptide-30 also exhibits notable anti-inflammatory properties, reducing PGE2 and IL-6 levels that contribute to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). This makes it particularly valuable for Asian skin types prone to PIH. Water-soluble, effective at 0.5-2%.
