Description
Nonapeptide-1, also known as Melanostatine-5, is one of the most effective skin brightening peptides available for cosmetic formulations. It functions as a competitive antagonist at the melanocortin-1 receptor (MC1R) on melanocytes, preventing alpha-MSH from triggering the melanogenesis cascade.
By blocking MC1R signaling, Nonapeptide-1 reduces tyrosinase expression and activity, the rate-limiting enzyme in melanin synthesis. Results in measurable reduction of both constitutive and UV-induced melanin production, leading to brighter, more even-toned skin without cytotoxicity concerns of traditional tyrosinase inhibitors.
Clinical studies confirm significant melanin reduction within 28 days, with effects comparable to 2% kojic acid but without irritation. Water-soluble, stable at pH 4-7, and effective at low concentrations (0.001-0.01%).
COSPEP supplies ultra-high-purity Nonapeptide-1 (>99%) for premium brightening formulations. Full technical documentation, including HPLC/MS analysis and formulation recommendations, is provided with each order.
