Description
Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-12, trade name Biopeptide EL, is a lipopeptide specifically designed to target elastin biosynthesis in the dermis. Elastin, the protein responsible for skin's ability to stretch and recoil, declines dramatically with age and photoaging. Biopeptide EL addresses this by stimulating elastin gene expression and fibroblast activity.
The palmitoyl modification ensures efficient delivery through the stratum corneum to reach dermal fibroblasts, where the peptide signals for increased tropoelastin production and proper elastic fiber assembly. Concurrently upregulates fibrillin-1, a critical microfibril component for functional elastic fiber formation.
Clinical testing demonstrates measurable improvements in skin elasticity, firmness, and resilience within 28-56 days. Particularly effective in formulations targeting mature, sagging skin and stretch marks. Oil-soluble with excellent performance in lipid-rich formulations.
